Sometimes I still start typing, but just to realise a few words in that it’s entirely pointless. But usually I don’t bother blocking.

My block list isn’t very big (14 if you exclude NSFW accounts), so if you’re on it, you’re something of a special level of toxic.

I’ve never blocked anyone, although I’m tempted with one that has been stalking me for months, since I opened. I think it’s an alternate account of a troll on hexbear.

You can set user labels for them. That’s fun. Just some stupid quirky thing that makes you laugh whenever the respond to you.

This is peak content. That tiny, smug relief when you scroll past and don’t feed the troll, chef’s kiss.

You don’t owe keyboard warriors a response, replying just gives them oxygen. Used to waste nights arguing with strangers, now I block and go pet a dog. Way better ROI on my sanity.

Also, that dog is judging my old comment history and I deserve it. Silence is underrated, 11/10 would choose again.

    Oh yes. :)

Always fun that Lemmy shows that people I’ve blocked replied too. I always hope they’re sitting there waiting for a response that’s never going to come.

i really wish that, but some people just have to get the last word in. i can name a few dipshits like that i interacted with on facebook, most of whom were me and some of whom weren’t, and it was a very hard behavior to unlearn.

I have a problem. I like good conversation. Unfortunately you can’t tell if someone will provide it online until a post or two. So I end up responding to haters. I should notice them more quickly.

My Kryptonite is the professional controians I’ll bite to the point they’re just talking nonsense in some attempt to be right over having a discussion. Main reason I left Reddit got so bored of having to engage with someone’s sudo intellectual ego.

Sometimes, I reply to a hateful comment, only to have them reply back. Then I realize that they know more about (insert subject here) than I do. (⬭_⬭ )

That subject is usually just the convenient outlet for being hateful. And hate’s a hell of a fuel.

      But...

Them knowing more? Usually it’s just wikipedia.

I just remind myself that, if their first comment is unintelligent, their following comments usually don’t exceed that level.
