  • i mean it worked in my dad. he was part of a trial to install DBS on moderate parkinson’s patients rather than waiting until the patients had severe parkinson’s. Short story, gave him ten extra years he could work. A bit longer and more details, he was able to manage nearly all of his dyskinesia through the implant rather than via medication (some kind of levi/carbidopa). It was a really neat device, the MDs who put it in were the best at what they do (and, as a professional patient I’ve gotten good at evaluating that) and provided us with all the support we needed up until dad died. So our experience was nothing but positive. I think the charger is in the garage and I can dig it up tomorrow to find out what company built his computer if you want.

  • Tobacco, no. I was on a construction crew one summer, everyone else chain smoked, I didn’t, then I went off to college and a week later couldn’t figure out why I was craving the smell of cigarettes. That was a rough semester.

Alcohol, 2-3 units/drinks a month. A glass of wine with the week’s fancy meal, maybe but that’s about it.

Cannabis, wake and bake. I use it medically, but could probably cut back a little. Not much tho, it manages a life threatening condition well enough my case got put into the literature.

The cult I grew up in was straight edge without all the ethics, so like even coffee was a big deal when I got free of that one

  • Nothing like the senior partner at this law firm I consulted at who got conned by his son into getting the a bleeding edge gaming rig for work “because he’d need it for multiple monitors and video calls” so said son could scavenge it from his dad in 3-5 when the business life cycle demanded a new computer. I did not make any friends (as someone with a vested interest in the firm’s success, also the son is an entitled dick who’s never had a job) with the son when I told the partner that a plato like he bought could last him a decade with proper maintenance.
