  • Adulthood is realizing most adults don’t know what they’re doing.

But I think a lot of men’s issues is trying to confirm to the boomer’s definition of “a man”.

I have no idea why anyone would do that, but lots do.

And that link is about how some men can’t get laid…

That right there is likely the main problem.

men feel isolated, unvalued by society, and dysfunctional,

    And:

Not all guys have an ongoing sexual relationship with a woman.

Are not the same fucking thing. If you’re looking for a single partner to fill all your emotional needs, you’ll never be happy and you’ll make the other person unhappy and eventually make them despise you. At best you’ll end up with a problematic codependent relationship

  • You’re not born knowing the difference between “fuck” and “birthday”…

You learn those words, you learn that one is “special” and comes with intense emotional connections , then it goes to the special language center

If I told you to pretend “apricot” meant “asshole”, it might work a little

If I raised you from birth with the correct usage of the English language except those two words were reversed in every instance …

You’d get stronger and tougher by yelling apricot, and calling someone an asshole would be silly, but not insulting.

But while Tourettes can involve that language center, it doesn’t have to. It’s a square/rectangle thing. Like how some people only make a syllable or two. And others scream whole ass sentences to the point others think an actual conversation is happening.

I did almost mention that, but it’s one of those things that are often oversimplified and needs a lot of asterisks

    Quick edit:

“You could train a child to _____” is/was kind of a joke in psychology because it’s about what you could actually do. But under no circumstances would it be ethical to do.

Psychology is a very young field, and the first couple decades…

Ethics wasn’t really a big concern.

I didn’t mean I could take a 9 year and convince them “that’s my purse” was a swear word, it was a tongue in cheek joke that an infant raised in an unethical experiment would believe it.

We can’t actually do a lot of studies we want, so it’s kind of a gallows humor thing.

    But it would be possible.

  • Cheaters are not going to go away

Reminds me of a Trevor Moore song:

And I don’t wanna hear, "Well it actually makes it harder to steal your number

And it keeps you more secure from a cyber attack"

Well guess what? They’re gonna figure out how to hack this shit too

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0_pYEZQutc

But yeah, no matter what the anti cheat measure is, all it takes is one person cracking it.

Best case is they get it as good as DRM for pirated games. Last I looked into it there was really just one random woman who clearly had a couple different mental illnes (not an insult, literally unwell) who was able to crack a widely used type of DRM.

But she could, and if she ever stopped, someone else would quickly learn. Because for cracking games the difference between 1 and 2 people is negligible, it’s a lot of work and if not working together your both wasting time on the same game. But the difference between 0 and 1 is incredible. Lots of people with the skill simply has no reason to learn when someone else is already doing it

With cheats, there’s a monetary incentive because you’re selling to people who will keep needing to buy a new account, and new cheats

  • There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

As crazy as what we’ve discovered with physics and consciousness in the last two years, I legitimately think there may be something to it.

Like, maybe the scientific pursuit of measuring the tiniest possible details has a butterfly effect that makes everything in a level we notice completely fucking insane.

Like how Google maps when you zoom in it replaces all the pixels. Maybe zooming in anywhere causes a snowball effect where everything everywhere suddenly needs to also be determined at that level, and that’s why shit at the “human level” isn’t running right.

There’s so much in those books that sound so stupid in the surface, but honestly aren’t as far fet he’d as they initially seem.

Gives me Philip K Dick vibes but with some of the best comedic writing ever instead of meth induced paranoia like Dick.

  • I mean, not to dig on the guy too much…

But look at that picture and imagine how he was treated growing up in a red area. It’s a pretty safe bet that he had gender norms forced on him since a young age because he looks ambiguous.

Now he wants to do the same to everyone else.

Like, he’s a piece of shit, undoubtedly.

But we need to understandwhy he’s a piece of shit, even if he’s irredeemable.

Because if we don’t understand it, we can’t stop it from happening to the next generation.

People are animals, were not innately good, we need socialized. And anyone who thinks lack of socialization isn’t a root cause of most of our problem, they’re frankly not paying attention.

It’s not hard to figure this out, but it needs logic and critical thinking. Writing them off as a monster just needs emotion. It’s easier, but practically ineffective That’s why we keep doing this over and over. It’s like losing weight. It’s not something you do from six months and quit. Fighting bigotry/fascism is a lifelong battle, even when it’s easy. We have to keep fighting.

  • I mean, “both sides” act like the other is crazy, but it’s all normal human variation.

About 20% of people are going to be super into a leader who uses violence to obtain compliance, and are always ready to personally do the same.

There’s always been that slice of humanity and there always will be.

It’s just if we let that ~20% run the show, shit is going to suck for the other ~80%, and also a lot of that ~20%.

We need to understand why they’re like this so we can mitigate their influence on society on a larger scale. Or even better, get a “strong” progressive leader that gives them the warm and fuzzies they desperately need to stop being such pieces of shit.

  • It’s a fundamental flaw in how they train them.

Like, have you heard about how slime mold can map out more efficient public transport lines than human engineers?

That doesn’t make it smarter, it’s just finding the most efficient paths between resources.

With AI, they “train” it by trial and error, and the resource it’s concerned about is how long a human engages. It doesn’t know what it’s doing, it’s not trying to achieve a goal.

It’s just a mirror that uses predictive test to output whatever text is most likely to get a response. And just like the slime mold is better at a human at mapping optimal paths between resources, AI will eventually be better at getting a response from a human, unless Dead Internet becomes true and all the bots just keep engaging with other bots.

Because of it’s programming, it won’t ever disengage, bots will just get in never ending conversations with each, achieving nothing but using up real world resources that actual humans need to live.

That’s the true AI worst case scenario, it’s not Skynet, it ain’t even going to turn everything into paperclips. It’s going to burn down the planet so it can argue with other chatbots over conflicting propaganda. Or even worse just circle jerk itself.

Like, people think chatbots are bad, once AI can can make realistic TikToks we’re all fucked. Even just a picture is 1,000x the resources as a text reply. 30 second slop videos are going to be disastrous once an AI can output a steady stream
