Well, that headline took a few reads to figure out. Is it frowned upon to use the word ‘the’ these days?
Headlinese is older than dirt!
Makes sense…if we primarily used print still. Not so much for online articles.
People are used to it though. Why do we even still have headlines at all?
Is that “the” supposed to fit between “police” and “opposition”? I’m still confused by this terrible headline.
Right, at least I think so.
Controversial B.C. RCMP unit to police the opposition to fast-tracked resource projects
Ah, yes, the “terrorize the natives” unit.
Britannia’s Huns with their long range guns. How brave they will face them with their 16-pounder gun and will frighten them natives to their marrow.
Colonial pricks. Call them Black and Tans while you’re at it.
Have they still not been deployed?
The unit was first floated back in 2021 weren’t they? To get protesters away from the pipeline project?
I’ve definitely heard of RCMP basically being on call to oil corpos in the past.
This is a new unit with special training and equipment. Specifically so that RCMP in general don’t make a mess of such situations.
As far as relationships go, just look at the history of the RCMP and the Hudson’s Bay Company.
