Rob T Firefly@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What form of entertainment, movie, music, tv, video game etc that you were excited about only after it came out did you realize it was trash?English13·8 days agoAs a kid in the 1990s I was really hyped up about the concept of VR, but lacked the ridiculously expensive gear to try any of the interesting stuff that was out there.
Nowadays I’m idly interested in the concept of VR, but lack the ridiculously expensive gear to try any of the interesting stuff that’s out there.
Rob T Firefly@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there an actor you can't stand? Do they have any exceptions?English1·8 days agoHe was wonderful in Real Genius, but to be fair he was playing the smarmy self-entitled asshole who is convinced he’s the greatest.
His performance as the voice of the car was the best thing about the bad Knight Rider reboot.
Rob T Firefly@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there an actor you can't stand? Do they have any exceptions?English2·8 days agoShe’s the absolute worst Wednesday Addams, but that whole show in general isn’t great and anyone would probably end up sucking given that material.
Rob T Firefly@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there an actor you can't stand? Do they have any exceptions?English2·8 days agoIt’s certainly no The Burbs.
Rob T Firefly@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there an actor you can't stand? Do they have any exceptions?English1·8 days agoNo love for Angry Vest Headphone Boss in Apollo 13?
Rob T Firefly@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there an actor you can't stand? Do they have any exceptions?English3·8 days agoI’ve been watching late-night talk shows for 40-something years, from Carson to Colbert, and I truly believe nothing in the history of the format has come close to the awesomeness of Craig Ferguson’s show.
Rob T Firefly@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there an actor you can't stand? Do they have any exceptions?English7·8 days agoThe most entertaining thing Gal Gadot has done was getting cast as Wonder Woman, which forced all the other characters from the fictional island of Themiscyra to speak in an accent like hers in order for her accent to make sense. Watching Robin Wright and everyone else playing Amazons trying to sound Israeli was worth the movie ticket price.
Rob T Firefly@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there an actor you can't stand? Do they have any exceptions?English3·8 days agoI hated the Kylo Ren character and didn’t care for those sequels, but Adam Driver’s Saturday Night Live appearances are absolutely amazing. I’d love to see him in more comedy.
Rob T Firefly@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there an actor you can't stand? Do they have any exceptions?English2·8 days agoCheck out the film Can You Ever Forgive Me? It’s Melissa McCarthy in a far more dramatic role than her usual (but still darkly funny) and she is amazing in it. She gets to do so much more than her usual schtick.
Rob T Firefly@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there an actor you can't stand? Do they have any exceptions?English3·8 days agoThe original Benny Hill version was better (and shorter.)
Rob T Firefly@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there an actor you can't stand? Do they have any exceptions?English7·8 days agoThe first thing in which I saw him was the Doctor Who episode The Lodger and I thought he was likeable enough in that. I could never stand him in anything else, his late-night talk show run was a blight on humanity, and even the return appearance of his Who character in a second episode was entirely unnecessary.
Rob T Firefly@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there an actor you can't stand? Do they have any exceptions?English4·8 days agoIndiana Jones is the role Harrison Ford was born to play. Indy gets thrown into some large-scale bullshit and fumbles through it with a persistent “the fuck is going on?” vibe, which is basically the same as when Ford shows up on set to lead a blockbuster movie.
Rob T Firefly@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there an actor you can't stand? Do they have any exceptions?English7·8 days agoYoung Nicole Kidman also had a face that moved.
Rob T Firefly@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there an actor you can't stand? Do they have any exceptions?English4·8 days agoHis real life is so much creepier than his acting.
Rob T Firefly@lemmy.worldto Comic Strips@lemmy.world•A note from the mod on AI-generated comicsEnglish01·17 days agoAwesome! Thanks for this decision.
Rob T Firefly@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Would eating a 3.75Oz tin of sardines a day raise concerns about consuming too much mercury or lead?English1·28 days agoTo reduce your intake of metals, remove the sardines from the tin before eating them.
I’ll always remember this one time in the 1990s when my family and I were watching some medical documentary on cable TV. There was footage of a trans woman getting top surgery, and they showed the medical details and cutting of her uncovered chest with no problem, but the instant the breast implant was slipped beneath the patient’s skin they blurred out the nipple because it became unsuitable for unedited broadcast at that moment.
i think about that moment a lot.
You can crack a cacodemon over the noggin with it.
