Is that a monkey shooting Greek fire at another monkey riding a ram while carrying a shield but using a rake as a lance?

One way to get communities more active is to give them more content. Some in the past have suggested making the initial post in the smallest community so the cross-posts increase awareness of the smaller communities in the larger ones. Maybe pick one for regular posting and then cross-post some of your best if you’re posting every day, though.
jqubed@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•my youtube algorithm kinda sucks rn, recommend me some171·22 hours agoLately I’ve been watching Practical Engineering where the host gives some basic explanations about the engineering considerations for designing various infrastructure projects like dams or railroads. I’ve also seen some interesting videos from Wendover Productions about airline operations like how airlines design their route networks for a competitive advantage or how they assign planes to routes.
That’s a nice looking park! I don’t think I’ve been to one without a chain link fence!

He was even creating a lot of custom skins for models. I played a lot of them until it turned into a more The Fast and the Furious-type game.

jqubed@lemmy.worldto Funny@sh.itjust.works•Correlation between screen size and your importance in the company6·4 days agoI have a 16" laptop and lowkey hate using it when I don’t have it connected to my two 27" HD panels at my desk. Once I got to use it hooked up to two 32" 4K panels and I’ve been jealous of that setup ever since. I saw an $90 portable 15.6" monitor at Costco yesterday, looks like it can run on a single USB-C connection, and am sorta seriously considering getting that for when I’m on the road. Maybe I can get work to get me something like that.
I mean, the single laptop screen works fine when I need it, but I really prefer having more real estate.
Thank you for getting the colors correct

I’ve only seen that kind of keyboard for iPhone; what model is this?

I really like the idea in this of a very basic vehicle, though, so I hope they succeed.

It’s electric but very basic, the size of a classic 1980s small pickup. No big fancy screens but they plan to offer a tablet mount for the dashboard in case you want to bring your own.

The last model year sold for the normal 500 was 2019, although the L and X are still sold according to Wikipedia (I think the X is sold rebadged as a Jeep, though).
In case this isn’t familiar to a reader, it’s a reference to the traditional English children’s song “This Old Man”
jqubed@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•The AI company Perplexity is complaining their bots can't bypass Cloudflare's firewallEnglish3·6 days agoI think in Cloudflare’s case the free tier website owners are more an example of just giving the users a limited product in hopes of enticing them to upgrade to the paid product with more features and better performance. Cloudflare might get some benefit in the ability to track end-users across more websites as part of their efforts to determine who is a real human versus a potentially-malicious bot, but I don’t think that really gives the same ROI like Facebook or other services extract from their “free” services where the users are the actual product.
My nostalgia for the brand is the nostalgia they showed when I was a kid; old tin ads on the wall for various sodas and candies and motor oil or whatnot. We used to stop there on road trips when I was a kid because the bathrooms would usually be pretty clean and wandering the store part would let us stretch our legs a bit. Sometimes we’d get some old-fashioned candy or gum or soda. Sometimes we’d actually eat at the restaurant side. Us kids would only ever get pancakes, no matter the time of day.
I can’t remember the last time I stopped at one now. Most of our road trips are heading north to see my wife’s parents in Canada. I’ve never noticed them existing north of southern Virginia and that comes up fairly early in our drive. My wife tried eating at one once before we got married but it sounds like what she got wasn’t good, especially the green beans. I’m not sure how much I’d trust the food that wasn’t on their all-day breakfast menu. It’s harder to mess up breakfast.
I’m not saying there’s not a potential market for a place that appeals to nostalgia of the ’70s–’90s, maybe the music, arcade games, pop culture references, Crystal Pepsi, but it would need to be a completely different brand even if it came from the same company.
