I’m right with you, especially all the media centered on big loving family or sad loner stuff. I also resent how long it goes on and got annoyed at the "the best time of the year"song yesterday. It’s just all too much! No other holiday is like this.

I also started sending Christmas cards this year thinking of them as messages of love. I like that and I like warmth and lights and love. It’s still way too long and too expensive.

Wfh means I have more tim. Gym equipment at home means more convenience. So I can usually manage fitness and work plus healthy meals every day. Joined a book club so I read more and that meets online so it’s very convenient too.

I don’t do side projects and I got permission to use time in work to do learning, but it’s really hard to save that time as there’s always someone important to do in work.

Having kids means all this stuff at home doesn’t require a babysitter, which would fuck it all up sometimes.

So definitely not doing everything I could or i want, keep evening time as unscheduled as I can cause I need that freedom. I also recognize that different life stages come with different challenges and opportunities.

It’s privatized so we pay monthly based on weight and a standing charge.

3 wheelie bins, one black for general rubbish, one green for recyclables, one brown for compost. Our collection is weekly for black bin and alternate the other bins every week.

Recycling is clean dry waste including paper, plastic, tins. Glass is brought separately yourself to bottle bins and sorted by colour. Usually there are charity run bins for old clothes there too.

We have a return system for plastic and cans too which are at supermarkets usually and you get your deposit back, 15c for small stuff, 25c for larger.

All this means we have in the kitchen… 1 rubbish bin, 1 recycling bin, 1 compost bin, 3 large bags for bottles by colour, 1 large back for return stuff. And it’s not a big space, it’s a real pain.

Yeah there’s also the issue of how much time someone has available to spend on their system. In a lot of cases, it simply isn’t a big part of someone’s life and the spend the least amount of time on it. All of a sudden they’re going to spend the time to learn about this new and huge thing and then do it themselves?

I’m talking about technically not individual opinions. That is, it’s not a foreign coup.
