Signal is not a federated protocol, though. I guess you can run that server code. But it won’t connect you to your friends and people on the regular Signal network. (Plus you’d also need to build a custom version of the client/app.) I’m a bit unsure whether OP is aware of that.

That was broken some time ago and the car would crank but refuse to start.

hendrik@palaver.p3x.deto Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Watched a video about Debian and now I am not sure is the best for me.English3·9 days agoI’ve also used Debian on my computer for decades and rarely did any application crash. It’s just not a thing. Well… I had FreeCAD crash regularly. But it did that for years and on any distribution. Other than that I did stuff on Debian all day every day and it was just fine.

Btw, I think a NPU can’t run large language models in the first place. They’re meant for things like blur the background in video conferences, or help with speech recognition or such very specific smaller tasks. They only have some tens or hundreds of megabytes of memory, so a LLM/chatbot won’t fit. The main thing that makes LLM inference faster is memory (RAM) bandwith and speed.
hendrik@palaver.p3x.deto LocalLLaMA@sh.itjust.works•Very large amounts of gaming gpus vs AI gpusEnglish1·1 month agoWell, I wouldn’t call them a “scam”. They’re meant for a different use-case. In a datacenter, you also have to pay for rack space and all the servers which accomodate all the GPUs. And you can now pay for 32 times as many servers with Radeon 9060XT or you buy H200 cards. Sure, you’ll pay 3x as much for the cards itself. But you’ll save on the amount of servers and everything that comes with it, hardware cost, space, electricity, air-con, maintenance… Less interconnect makes everything way faster…
Of course at home different rules apply. And it depends a bit how many cards you want to run, what kind of workload you have… If you’re fine with AMD or you need Cuda…
hendrik@palaver.p3x.deto New Communities@lemmy.world•community for lgbtq+ christians or those learning about christianityEnglish0·2 months agoLikely depends on whether you ask the church or Jesus. We don’t really have any reliable information, but if he really was a hippie preacher, telling how god loves all of his creatures, and how you can’t hate on each other… He must have been pro Lgbtq+
But that’s just my take on it. Most people who call themselves Christians might disagree.

Is it usable? Or under development? And if so when are we going to connect to it?
I had a quick look and seems there have been some projects packaging the Signal server for Docker… But the projects Google returns as results on the first page all seem to be abandoned. Seems this is a bit niche. Unfortunaltely I don’t have any good advice here. I run a Matrix server, so I don’t have experience with this.
