Google@lemdro.id•Google doesn't want to be held responsible for OS-level age assuranceEnglish
1·9 days agoYeah, it’s something that made me think of the age of the operating system itself, since that’s been a discussion recently with Motorola.
To get imaginative, in a mode pf production beyond capitalism, though, I think the device level age locking would be pretty sick. I get that a lot of people had what they consider helpful formative experiences on the internet, but hearing about them, I think they are just nostalgic and those experiences weren’t as valuable as they imagined.
Many will disagree with me because they haven’t considered this is the only way to let adults play counter-strike without the damn kids in the way.

Google@lemdro.id•NATO and Google Cloud Sign Multi-Million Dollar Deal for AI-Enabled Sovereign CloudEnglish
1·9 days agoI’m sure it’s just some kind of buzzword, but why is the term “sovereign” now a part of this? Really rubs me the wrong way considering Google is encircling Africa in cable.

Apple@lemdro.id•Retail chain accidentally sold iPad Airs for $17 – and wants them backEnglish
22·9 days agoHell, Chinese retailers would send me a notification about this $17 iPad to refund me $0.30 because the price dropped. They need to get with the times. Nobody even uses pads other than Twitter addicts, babies, and old people.

1·10 days agoI got scared off by the interface, I might give it a second try. My solution to the issues of COMAPS is to heavily bookmark geolocations in other apps. Resorting to proprietary solutions for emergencies (Yandex is pretty great outside countries like the US which do not like them).

Meta@lemdro.id•Meta wants to get into the electricity trading businessEnglish
1·10 days agoWhat a great idea. All of these companies should just pass electricity back and forth until resistance gets rid of it. That seems right up their alley.

The idea the Graphene devs are toxic doesn’t hold up to scrutiny. People just don’t respond well to their critiques and think a media dogpile will be less energy.
