  • Metal won’t work because wireless charging is expected for most phones

It’s not an impossible problem to solve, Qi just doesn’t care. Qualcomm solved it with their wireless charging standard 10 years ago

Leaves glass and plastic, which are both found on premium phones.

I don’t think I’ve seen a “premium” phone with a plastic back in a LONG time

it feels and looks nicer than plastic and doesn’t scratch as easily

There’s a wide range of plastics, it gets a bad rap because of the cheap shit that’s often used, but there’s absolutely a “high end” plastic side of the scale that can beat glass and not nearly as fragile

  • lmao what did you just say about Hexbear, lib? 💀 I’ll have you know I’m a tier-5 giga-brained poster with a PhD in Leninist praxis from the University of Posters, and I have 300+ confirmed dunks on Lemmy.ml sockpuppets. I was radicalized in the trenches of r/ChapoTrapHouse, forged in the fires of permabans, and tempered in the meme wars of 2019. You are literally nothing to me but another bootlicker running on 80% State Dept. talking points and 20% soy. I will ratio you so hard your precious little upvote count will never recover. You think you can just roll up in here, talk shit about Hexbear, and not get absolutely obliterated by dialectical praxis in 4K? Think again, bucko. As we speak, my cadre of Discord tankies are screen-capping your posts, cross-referencing them with your cringe comment history, and drafting a 12-point rebuttal with citations from Stalin, Mao, and that one screenshot of Bernie saying ‘chill with the anti-communism.’ The storm that’s coming for you is called material conditions, and guess what? They’re not in your favor. I’ve got Lenin’s collected works and a folder full of spicy memes, and I’m not afraid to deploy both. You’re already owned, kid. You just don’t know it yet. Now go touch grass, comrade, before I drop another 3k-word comment that makes you cry and log off.

  • I’m curious how you can justify speaking for everyone? How is everyone’s experience worse? I’m sure the users of lemmy.cafe or any other instance that defederates or otherwise blocks .ml don’t notice a degradation.

I’ve even had people thank me for doing what I do because it’s actually an improvement for them so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Constantly reposing duplicates en-mass makes the experience way worse for those of us who don’t have a personal vendetta against particular target lemmy instances and who haven’t defederated with them out of spite or distaste

It’s not possible to cater things in a way that’s pleasant for everyone at once. Your slightly degraded experience, is another’s “godsend” be it because they were forced out of .ml because of the “horrible” crime of supporting ukraine or calling out Russian propaganda or because by choice ala instance defederation or choosing to block them

Hence the reason people say, you need to cater your feed for an optimal experience.

Cross-posting as part of ongoing boycotting/protest efforts against .ml

Why am I cross-posting .ml content?

I cross-post from .ml to the nearest relevant non-.ml comm to reduce the influence of .ml comms and indirectly, the instance as a whole, to make it an easier decision for other instance admins to defederate because one key reason I identified that admins don’t want to defederate is because .ml still has some very large comms and some niche comms.

    Megathread on the issue

    Some highlights from the link:

"Don’t worry guys, the Uyghur Genocide was REALLY just birth control! ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev https://lemmy.world/post/30580167

“See! nobody died IN Tiananmen Square, just AROUND it, so it doesn’t count!!” ~ Davel, .ml admin https://lemmy.world/post/30673342

.ml admin, Nutomics continued transphobia https://lemmy.world/post/29222558 The original transphobic Comment from Nutomic: https://lemmy.world/post/18236068

“NK is actually good and anything counter to that is Western propaganda!” ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev https://lemmy.world/post/31595035

General negative sentiment to other instances who haven’t “seen the way” yet ~davel, .ml admin https://lemmy.world/post/27426510

“If you don’t support Russia then you just don’t understand geopolitics” ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev https://lemmy.world/post/27352415

And so so much documentation on clear heavy handed censorship and bias also on the link. So much I can’t even put them all here because this comment would be really long.

I believe the behavior of its admins (the main admins are Lemmy devs) does harm to the overall growth of the Lemmy-verse and maybe even the Thrediverse (since Lemmy kinda kicked off the Thrediverse) because of its association with the devs of Lemmy and their insistence to use .ml as their personal political platform to spread harmful propaganda

On the outside, bringing up Lemmy frequently leads to comments like “Lemmy? Isn’t that the place with a bunch of tankies?” Or “Tried Lemmy, but found it full of pro Russia crap so I left”. The best way forward from that I see is to either widely defederate from .ml like the rest of the Triad, or pressure them to put a fair and unbiased as possible admin team.

Lol, nah as a small part of my boycotting efforts against .ml for what the .ml admins do to further their “ideology” and to make it easier for admins to choose to defederate (a common argument against defederation like with the rest of the triad (Hex and grad) is that they have too much content) I’m cross-posting content from .ml comms to the closest relevant non-.ml comm

A hex user posted the comic to a .ml comm, .ml proxies images, I could have changed the URL to directly point to the image, but adding that little bit of additional load is just a little sugar on top as far as I’m concerned lol
