Oh unpopular ones do too. No job makes more money for the particularly enterprising and soulless as preaching does here.

Do what you want with your life and all that, and fuck knows plenty of things I do could get people expressing concerns that are less warranted than they think. But also, I hope these people understand our perspective as sincere human worry, not as mocking or moralizing.
I think all Seinfeld references are right about there now.
I’m a woman, but I feel like if I were a man I’d be offended by the fact that large swathes of America seem to think that manhood and the military and its aesthetics are the same thing.
Like, men can have other jobs. I’ve known men who are accountants and scientists and even healthcare workers and educators. I’ve known men who are pacifists and anti war activists. Hell men can even have other interests that are culturally associated with their gender. You could do sports themed baby bags, or “fun things culturally associated with kids doing with dad” ones, or even barely change the aesthetic but make it astronaut themed.
Like, I worry that this increasing association between masculinity and the military is being done on purpose in an attempt to prime young men to go lose parts of their bodies and minds in foreign countries, and I’m reminded of the cultural buildup to the first world war
Only the most chaste men among them.
I get what you’re saying, but remember they’re still fighting. Feminist protests break out every few years there.
It’s why iran has so many educated women and is weirdly technologically powerful for a theocratic regime. Iran in the 70s was modern. Inshallah the people of iran will be freed from the tyranny of theocracy.
But yeah, iran is what should scare you the most because their collapse was fast and unexpected.
I didn’t watch the movie, but I can’t imagine an American movie getting away with what the comic did. Yeah, one of the major themes of the comic is the fucked up sexuality displayed by the fascists and the leader gets off on the concentration camps.
Really good comic, but it’s definitely a lot. Moore did a really good job of depicting the fascists as pathetic but dangerous. Though fair warning, if Moore could think of a slur a brit might possibly use it’s in that comic.
It was a warning against authoritarians. 1984 was inspired by his time conscripted into the propaganda service during world war 2 and his negative experiences with the soviets fighting alongside them in Spain. It was a warning against both fascists and authoritarian communists
Honestly, the us is going full vendetta too. Our president is really reminiscent of Adam Susan
Well both books were written to describe what british authoritarianism would look like.
How long before we have a leak of the PM masturbating to state violence? Ugh V for Vandetta was so sexual in such an intentionally uncomfortable way
Don’t worry, they’re banning the sins of the poor and cracking down on the dregs of society, just in time for you to be part of that
I mostly picked up on the incest, but I was like 12 when I read that series

Additionally, in a war with canada internal cooperation would be very weak. A lot of us are pissed at how he’s treating y’all. The home front of a war with canada would likely resemble it during the Vietnam war. I can see him being dumb enough to push through a draft, and I suspect even he can’t keep his grip on power during a draft against our favorite foreign country (sorry aussies and brits).
My actual suspicion is that he’d attack Mexico. There are a lot of white Mexicans who speak English, but nothing compared to Canadians. We’ve already got a lot of Americans who hate Mexico and think it’s a crime ridden hellhole run by the cartels. We’re really war weary from all the fights we spent the first 20 years of the century picking, so even that is a balancing act for him.
Also y’all’re in nato while Mexico has chosen to hold no military alliances.
That makes sense. And the difference is the American constitution says the opposite (or more accurately, doesn’t have any exceptions). We’ve had elections during every war and conflict that coincided with an election. Lincoln was reelected during the Civil war.
Probably. Priests have a lot of room to improvise in emergencies. I know many keep holy water in their vehicles in case they witness an accident and have to perform an emergency baptism or last rites.
General rules are if it can wait to be done with water it should.
That’s a thing here too. Seattle’s light rail even has bike hangers inside the trains. No fee though
How big of a country is it? Amtrak is usually similar price to flying at the cheapest (outside the northeast) with the least convenient schedule ever (the state I grew up in has two stations and never receives or launches a passenger train during the day).
Amtrak in the northeast corridor is about as fine as European rail is from what I hear, except no high speed. I really wish it could expand or get to Japan levels.
You’re thinking of cargo rail. Amtrak owns the rails and the passenger service. They actually run way more than you probably think as they operate the northeast corridor as well as some of the other more serviced lines like the cascade corridor.
Because healthcare would help you
