  • It’s 50/50 for me. If my wife brings our son to bed, I often hop on my laptop and get things done until 10-ish, then I watch some series and then I go to bed… Yesterday I had the fun idea to start a personal website, you know, with an fun looking resume thingy and a blog section and a showcase for all the projects you never finished.

Other times I’m just looking at my phone until I suddenly realize it’s already midnight and now I feel bad.

  • In my country it’s common to start work as young as 12 (legal minimum), but usually before your 16th birthday. It’s only a couple hours (less than 10, I think) in weekends or after school. The law also prohibits too many hours for young adults and especially kids.

You can’t do every job at that age. Most kids do something like stocking in a supermarket or a paper route. I think it is an invaluable experience for kids that age. You learn that you have to work hard for your money and what the real value if money is.

My first job was sorting mail in a distribution centre when I was 15. My wife however, started her first job at 12, as a help in a pet store and stayed their until she was 20.
