Our bus system is not robust and complicates anything more than a simple trip along the line.
SpikesOtherDog@ani.socialto Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Piracy surges as streaming costs drive viewers awayEnglish6·2 days agoIf three or four people did that and shared their library with friends then they would have a massive catalog between them.
Legally, you are allowed to make backups of the media you own (in the US). If a group of friends got together and shared their media libraries, proving that only one person was accessing the media at a time, then there would be no issue.
SpikesOtherDog@ani.socialto Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL Amtrak will let you attach your own private car to one of their trains and they charge you per a mileEnglish8·2 days agoSome of the larger cities in the US have light rail. I live near Cincinnati, which had their light rail projects killed in favor of personal vehicles. I believe a proper rail system here would be a huge boon, but it is not well visualized by the half million residents here between three states and 8-9 counties.
Amtrak here is mainly used for service between cities. People generally forget it exists until it is brought up. I only ever hear about people traveling by car or plane.
So, to address my giggles and before I answer your real question, this is what I thought your bike was going to be hitched to. I believe it would have been a terrible ride.
The information here may address your questions. As loud as I have been, I am actually terribly unfamiliar with rail travel. https://www.amtrak.com/bring-your-bicycle-onboard

I got a smile out of imagining someone with a bicycle firmly attached to an Amtrak train and stuck sitting on it for 200 miles.

I have no qualms with running a firmware update through a Windows environment. My fear, however unfounded, is that I could only get as far as a firmware erase and not complete the write properly.
SpikesOtherDog@ani.socialto PC Master Race@lemmy.world•Can I interrupt chkdsk processEnglish6·3 days agoIf you can afford the time and it appears to be progressing, let it ride.
Either it is recovering further files which you can quickly remove and save elsewhere or it is busy scuffing the disk into an unrecognizable state. If you have all you need then it doesn’t matter if you let it run. I wouldn’t trust it after this.

Understandably, it is easy to do and I probably shouldn’t have tried to install all the desktop environment at once.
I have used Linux off and on since 2003, but never really went full penguin until Microsoft downgraded my Windows 10 pro to 11 home.
I now have my kids running Linux and have started using containers.
