Streisand effect.

You’re right, Starship Troopers should be way up on the list, too.
I’ve seen that edit. Much improved, but unfortunately there are some continuity gaps that are inevitable when cutting up a film like that.
Yes, it’s “divide and conquer” on a grand scale. Because we don’t have groups we’re never strong enough to rebel.
American. Speak only english.
The Hobbit
From the shitty shoehorned romance to wholesale elimination of plot points in the original story. Yeah, there was definitely some drama in the whole production of the film, but nonetheless it was crap.
I did not know the movie was based on anything. It’s one of my favorite scifi flicks, I always viewed it as based on a game player’s grind to get through a game by trying different moves after each death to succeed.
I, Robot was about as far from the source material as you could get.
I can only suggest reading some of “The Way We Never Were”. It’s a look at society and how it actually was vs the manufactured versions people today use to weaponize the whitewashed past as some sort of ideal. It’s not a psychological book or a deep analysis of society at all, but one of the things that struck me about it that relate to social circles and how it applies to men in particular is the loss of “the village” and the damage “self reliance” - the isolation of the American Family Unit by making it the Family Vs The World - has done to society and the ability of people to form steady social groups outside of work. This, and the need to constantly change jobs to move ahead financially also keeps people on unsteady ground with relationships.
I got first introduced to Dunks 25 years ago in Boston. They used to actually have a distinct, strong coffee flavor. I didn’t like it, but like you say, it was relatively inexpensive. Over the intervening decades the quality of coffee has been inverse to the sugar content of the Dunkin’ menu. It’s all crappy sugar bombs these days and the distinct flavor that was their brand disappeared about 15 years ago. Also, the vast majority of the street litter these days in my area is dunks. I don’t know what it is about the brand but the paper bags and plastic cups in the road are mostly all dunkin detritus chucked out the window by shitty people.
Probably heard it once and thought it was cool or saw a couple of memes with it and now it’s his brain worm.
I’ve been in Europe for a week each month this summer for work. I usually just eat in via groceries, but if it’s a café for a coffee in the morning or a dinner out with colleagues the prices are reasonable and tipping is a few €/£ for the entire group, if at all. No card tap payment is handed back to you with pre-calculated tip buttons. It just makes coming back to the US and paying relatively the same price for a meal and then being asked for 20% on top of that seem like bullshit.
I can’t tell what size blizzard this is thanks to the short cup, they’re usually taller. (Where I am in the US) They’re $4.99 or so for a medium, that’s my best guess. 20 miles round trip for the further “better” blizzard, 40 minutes in the car at that distance means city/town driving, so I’ll guess 18mpg. Extra gallon of gas for that round trip is gonna be ~$3+ USD unless you’re in California, and then it’s probably $4.25 or so.
Your best bet is to not waste gas, time, and wear on the car and order the next size up if your gas is $3-ish, or maybe order two if you’re in California.
No, I would not drive further.
Yes, this. Can’t say it any better. Local shops for stuff like this is a win.
The “there is no perfect solution so therefore there is no solution good enough” crowd. Usually a republican mantra when it comes to any social program.
Very cool setup for some happy cats. Nice work.
Missed opportunity…purrview.
So do they have free access or do they have to be carried in and out? That’s a very cool catio. And fwiw…thanks from a stranger for keeping a few more murdermittens from killing random critters.
IDK if it’s even a real word, just a portmanteau that has become common.
Yeah, that’s what you need to hear at 2 AM.
