  • Reddit has been on a slow, steady downward trajectory for over a decade. However, it was the rampant engagement bots nagging me with inane questions that drove me away. That, and overzealous moderation deleting comments and dishing out temporary bans for the lamest reasons. Reddit used to be the place where smart and funny people hung out and shared. Now it’s just another bland social media site trying to wring the greatest profit out the unwashed masses.

  • Let’s take a moment and think about how dumb this is for the U.S. to do.

The U.S. sanctions mean the judges are now on a list of specially designated sanctioned individuals. Any U.S. assets they have will be blocked and they are put on an automated screening service used by not only American banks but many banks worldwide, making it very difficult for sanctioned persons to hold or open bank accounts or transfer money.

So basically, the U.S. has used it’s “exorbitant privilege” arising from the status of the U.S. dollar as the reserve currency of the world to set up and control a financial system that gives it tremendous power. It is now using that system to bully citizens of allies because they are applying international law in investigating criminal conduct. In what world would any sane country not see the potential for further abuse, and immediately being working towards building an alternative system that does not rely on the whims of an unstable dictator? Add in the severe erosion of U.S. trade resulting from tariffs, and the likelihood of the destruction of the U.S. dollar as Trump gains control over the Federal Reserve, and it’s pretty easy to see the days of the U.S. dollar as a reserve currency are numbered. This will crush the U.S. economy for decades.

  • I will say that it’s styling is unique and distinctive, and looks like it belongs in a videogame, making it a polarizing “love it or hate it” aesthetic. While such a risky choice could potentially succeed, Musk going full MAGA and throwing Nazi salutes really turned a lot of people off of Tesla, and it’s distinctive flagship videogame “truck” became the instant icon of douchbaggery. Add in that Musk chronically over promises and under delivers (i.e., he lies about prospective features and benefits of his products), and every single problem with the vehicle is put under the microscope and (rightfully) held up as an example of why the truck is shit. Also note that, on brand for Musk, the relatively low price that it was promised at ($39,999) never materialized, and the actual price for the base vehicle was over $100K. So yeah, overpriced and shit compared to what was promised. The styling might have been able to find a fanbase, but not now, because it flags you as a Nazi supporter.
