It’s so damn stupid. Every time i hear of a new show, I must look for which platform will have it in my country. And also which seasons, because it happens (with old shows specially) that they are fragmented, having some seasons here, some there, and some unavailable.

Then, I open stremio and the whole show is there, a single app with all the content.

Now tell me, if I want to watch that show, what should I do?

You use a vpn to (hopefully) keep some privacy. To bypass geoblocks, to not let a state spy on you, to access webpages that are blocked in your country, to screw an ISP that is throttling your connection…

In general, there are lots of use cases for a trusted vpn that are not illegal. The problem with many vpn’s is that they offer “privacy” when they are spying on you.

Tl;dw: Most (not all) vpn companies come from ad brokers that spy on you. If you see a vpn being sponsorized by streamers with discount codes: they are selling your data.

Mullvad and proton are safe to use.

Tailscale allows you to do the same except you can create keys with limited access to only certain ports (just in case you don’t want them peeking around your server).

If it’s for your personal use and no one else is going to connect, why don’t you just configure a wireguard tunnel to remotely connect to your server as if you were in LAN without exposing anything?

I think some people use downvotes as a disagree button. They don’t like the idea of paying a sub for a launcher (I too find it stupid but that’s just my opinion) and use the downvote to let the world know instead of commenting or simply ignoring the post.
