I’d say you speak theirs - I say this not because of any tradition, but I’ve been taught that younger minds are more receptive to learning. Apparently that shit decreases at you age, so the idea is it’d be easier for the younger one to learn (and retain) the basics of another language.
Yeah! It’s use it or lose it. Kids should definitely learn all the languages they can. Practicing a non-primary language serves them better when they’re young, that way it’s ingrained so they won’t lose it growing up. My parents learned English in middle age and it amazes me how they still suck at it lol.
