I just bought the game and started playing this weekend. I’m still pretty early so I assume it’ll get harder later, but the combat is already a lot more fun than I thought it would be when I read the description. And the Victorian french vibes are immaculate.
I can see why people love this game so much
I wish I could forget the story so I could experience it again for the first time, enjoy it
My exact opinion. Was pleasantly surprised by the mechanics. We already knew the game was gorgeous, so that was less of a surprise haha.
I’m enjoying it but it quite hasnt gripped me like people say. I was expecting more? I don’t know what Inwss expecting though the combat is enjoyable. I recon I’m about halfway through it.
Our of curiosity - are you getting involved in the dialogue/story or are you there mostly for the mechanics/combat?
I’m in for the story. The combat is ok I guess. I like turn based and I like souls games but this system feels somewhat unfair to me, it is almost inevitable for me not to take hits when fighting an enemy for the first time.
It takes time to learn their move set, that’s one of the joys of the game. You can make the experience as easy or hard on yourself as you like via the settings. I recommend dodging vs parrying until you keep seeing perfect dodges. There is a challenge in Expedition 33 that pushed me to my gaming limits and I loved every second of it! Enjoy!
The game play does get harder with harder patterns of course but you also start getting more tools to counter them but I would suggest not going full bore theory craft breaking the game in Act 3, save it for NG+, which I would actually recommend for this game to really see the a plot in a very new light with your broken characters.
It does get harder later, I had to leave areas to level some more/rebuild characters. Some areas are just weak/strong Vs some builds too.
I still haven’t finished it either, actually act 2 seems to go on forever (don’t even know if it’s the last act).
Without spoiling anything, there is an act 3, but act 2 is by far the longest.
Yeah I would have been surprised if it stayed a one-and-done. It was a breakout hit so they’ll definitely try to sell more of it.
