Season 6&7 become mixed bags because the writers tan out of original source materials and they sucked at writing themselves, and at season 8 theyr recieved a mouthwatering contract for star wars and just wanted to get rid of GoT, even though HBO wanted multiple seasons more.

So, they just write and produces a 6 episode piece of shit that was scandalously bad. Production was bad, writing was just amazingly bad.
