Please prove or disprove the Riemann hypothesis

Not sure, even like ten years ago when I was doing my PhD lots of students in prominent US universities like Carnegie Mellon were going to China to intern in HEP colliders.

Yea they are probably quite ahead in about %80 of critical tech. Not only that but they also seem to be investing quite alot in sustainable tech, public transport tech, medicine etc. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if center of attraction for science shifts from US to China in near future.

These don’t work. “Be white” used to apply for a while but even that doesn’t anymore. I think now it is “be white and suck up to fascists”

lol some of the submissions here are nightmares. The person who submits the AI report also replies back to dev comments and criticisms using LLMs. And after a while, instead of admitting it was wrong it just hallucinates code like changing <= with < and claiming that is the mistake. What an absolute waste of people’s time.

Just so you know, LLMs might be useful tools as search engines or getting relevant keywords about some topic/knowledge that already exists but they don’t have much reasoning skills. This does not however stop them from producing an output that is just a cleverly jumbled combination of keywords/pieces relevant to the topic. So if you are doing sth like “take this idea and produce a new physics theory from it”, LLMs will not produce anything useful for you. You might take an LLM without any guardrails and massage it enough to convince it to produce a theory that proves earth is flat or that gravity does not exist.
I get what you mean, I had a similar kind of feeling when I did maths in my PhD too. I think that is an aptitude for mathematical style of thinking. I also love it when things that seem dissociated from each other suddenly becomes part of a single concept when you do a nice abstraction. I guess that is one of the points of abstraction anyway (reduce the number of building blocks as much as possible while keeping the same richness in end results).

hmm laying of %75 of the team unfortunately sounds like tying up any remaining businesses before closing down

Well that might suck phenomenally because at least in stackoverflow people (albeit sometimes toxically) point out issues with replies/codes. In GitHub anyone can post any code that may have critical errors. Even worse GitHub wil be full of AI generated code like internet is filled with AI generated videos. So things may start to get weird when AI gets trained on AI code.
I think the trill comes from the feeling that “I can do it better” if it is already done before or “I finally understand this in enough detail to build a nice abstraction” if not

Every family has that weird cousin (it might be me in our case…)

rest easy, they don’t ask for a picture, they ask for a video.
Do we have a rule 34 analogue for Linux distros?
I would also have expected to see some mild insults (he has improved quite alot in terms of toning himself down).

Nice read thanks. Though I am not sure how this is a defense of C++. He seems to be complaining about extending C++ too much without solidifying the foundation enough.

I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the guy who wrote this has been a 20 year long C++ coder. The tone feels like “NA NA NA NA NA NAAAA C++ IS THE BEST LANGUAGE EVER CAN’T HEAR ANYTHING YOU SAY NA NA NA”
disclaimer: I am not a rust user or C++, I use python and C
that is what I thought, by then seems like everyone will be generating their own batman in which they are the main lead

I did too have a look at the post for the same reasons and did visit some of the links given there. Honestly it looks more to me like tribalism than anything, see for instance comments and discussions here:

I think by now both groups are so entrenched in their position that they convey things from a strongly biased position and don’t have any desire to find a common ground.
Hey look here is a turd my brain produced on a topic I have no idea about. You must all worship this turd because I made billions.
